REPO's First Update: Details Revealed

Introducing the Duck Bucket!

REPO

REPO's first update brings a new map and, most importantly, the much-anticipated "duck bucket." Semiwork Studios showcased this and other upcoming features in a YouTube video released on March 15th.

For the uninitiated, REPO is a thrilling online co-op horror game supporting up to six players. Teams work together to extract valuable items from a terrifying world. Lurking in the shadows is The Apex Predator—a seemingly innocuous yellow duck that transforms into a horrifying monster when damaged or picked up, attacking players for ten seconds before reverting to its normal form.

The "duck bucket" will provide a much-needed solution, safely containing the pesky duck and preventing accidental monster transformations. The update will also include new facial expressions and other quality-of-life improvements.

A New Map: "The Museum," and Public Lobbies on the Horizon

REPO

Semiwork Studios has also announced a new map, "The Museum," designed to challenge players' parkour skills. Extraction points will feature clearer visual boundaries, ensuring players know when loot is safely within the extraction zone.

Responding to player feedback, the developers are exploring the implementation of public lobbies, including a kick button. They acknowledge the server-side coding challenges involved, suggesting this feature may arrive later than other planned updates.

Lethal Company Creator Weighs In on REPO

Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to the popular online co-op horror game, Lethal Company, due to shared mechanics and themes. On March 15th, Lethal Company creator Zeekers offered constructive criticism on Twitter (X), highlighting areas for improvement.

Zeekers praised the game's fun factor, noting the humorous challenge of moving a grand piano through a cramped mansion. However, he suggested improvements, including expanding voice chat range and addressing the muffling effect. He also noted that large, open spaces don't quite fit the game's design, suggesting a focus on the more successful cramped mansion layout, similar to the approach in Phasmophobia.

Zeekers also addressed concerns about enemies sneaking up silently, suggesting the need for an in-game system to help players understand enemy behavior.

R.E.P.O., currently the second best-selling game on Steam (behind Counter-Strike 2), has already amassed over 230,645 concurrent players, nearing the all-time peak of Lethal Company. Stay tuned for more updates!
