Clair Obscur Studio Announces Official Esquie Plushie, Cautions About Scams
Esquie, the endearing giant companion from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has quickly become a fan favorite and unofficial mascot of the game. His lovable personality and unique role as both a traveling companion and overworld transport have made him an iconic presence—often compared to Baymax from Big Hero 6. With his gentle charm and memorable quirks, it's no surprise that demand for Esquie-themed merchandise is on the rise.
However, fans looking to add an Esquie plush to their collection should proceed with caution. Sandfall Interactive, the developer behind Expedition 33, recently issued a warning via its official X/Twitter account about unauthorized third-party websites selling counterfeit Esquie plushies.
"To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed," the studio stated. "Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources. They could be scams."
While there may not be an official plush available just yet, Sandfall did offer some good news: one is in development. The team is working hard to bring a genuine, high-quality Esquie plush to market as soon as possible.
"In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" the studio added.
For those unfamiliar with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Esquie enters the story in Act 1 as a loyal helper and becomes essential to progression. His presence brings warmth, humor, and a sense of wonder to the journey—making him a natural draw for collectible goods and fan-made items.
Unfortunately, this popularity has also led to opportunistic counterfeiters. A quick Google search reveals multiple unverified sites and forum threads asking where to find authentic Esquie plushes. Until the official version drops, players are advised to avoid these dubious sellers.
In other news, Sandfall Interactive released patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 last week, which includes balance adjustments for Maelle’s Stendhal ability. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron praised the game’s creators, calling them a “shining example of French audacity and creativity.”
As excitement continues to build around both the game and its beloved character, fans can look forward to the eventual release of officially licensed Esquie merchandise. And while we're still waiting for confirmation, one can only hope the plush will come filled with something equally delightful—if not wine, then at least a little bit of magic.
