Josef Fares Reveals Key Details About Split Fiction in Recent Interview

Josef Fares, head of Hazelight Studios, recently shared exciting details about their upcoming game, Split Fiction, during an interview. Reiterating previous statements, Fares stressed Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a player-first approach, shunning live-service models and microtransactions entirely. The studio also confirmed their intention to remain independent, with no plans for an IPO or acquisition by a larger company. Fares stated definitively, "We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."

In conversation with MinnMax, Fares revealed that Split Fiction's core narrative clocks in at approximately 12-14 hours, comparable to the playtime of their acclaimed title, It Takes Two. However, with optional missions and extra content, players can anticipate a total playtime extending to 16-17 hours.

While Hazelight is renowned for its cooperative gameplay experiences, Fares hinted at the possibility of venturing into single-player game development in the future. He also noted that Split Fiction's budget is double that of It Takes Two, yet the studio has chosen against post-launch DLC, ensuring players receive the complete experience from day one. Split Fiction launches worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
