Console Performance Goals Unveiled
A December 19th livestream featured Monster Hunter Wilds director Yuya Tokuda and other team members, discussing post-Open Beta Test (OBT) improvements. They detailed console performance targets: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K, 30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p, 60fps) modes. The Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p, 30fps. A rendering bug affecting the framerate mode has been fixed.PS5 Pro support, offering enhanced visuals, is confirmed for launch.
PC performance will vary based on hardware and settings. While minimum specifications were previously announced, Capcom is working to lower these requirements for broader compatibility. Details are forthcoming, and a PC benchmark tool is under consideration.
Potential Second Open Beta Test
A second OBT is being considered, primarily to give players who missed the first opportunity a chance to experience the game. However, the changes discussed in the livestream won't be included in this potential second beta; they'll be exclusive to the full release.
The livestream also highlighted adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for a more impactful feel, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon refinements, notably for the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
