inZOI Dev Removes Denuvo DRM After Apology
The inZOI developer has issued a heartfelt apology for including Denuvo DRM in the game and has committed to its removal. This decision comes after widespread community feedback highlighted the controversial nature of Denuvo, which has been criticized for impacting game performance. Learn more about inZOI's stance on this issue and their vision for a highly moddable gaming experience.
inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM
The inZOI development team has officially announced the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. This decision follows the discovery of Denuvo in the Creative Studio mode demo, sparking discussions due to the anti-tamper software's reputation for hindering game performance. Denuvo aims to protect games from unauthorized copying and distribution, a measure intended to ensure fairness for legitimate purchasers.
In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed the community's concerns, stating that the upcoming Early Access build, scheduled for release on March 28, 2025, will be free of DRM technology. "We initially chose to implement Denuvo to safeguard inZOI from illegal distribution, believing it would support fairness among our paying players. However, after closely reviewing community feedback, it became clear that this approach was not in line with our players' expectations," Kjun explained.
Kjun also apologized for the lack of transparency regarding Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. He acknowledged that while removing DRM could increase the risk of the game being cracked, it would also allow inZOI to be freely configurable, thereby enhancing player creativity and customization. "We are convinced that fostering this freedom from the outset will lead to innovative and enduring enjoyment for our community," he added.
inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game
inZOI's commitment to being a highly moddable game was a core part of their development philosophy, making the inclusion of Denuvo a surprising move for many players. Modding is seen as a way to enhance and personalize the gaming experience, and Denuvo's presence could hinder this aspect.
Kjun reiterated this commitment, saying, "As I highlighted during the Online Showcase, our goal is to make inZOI a highly moddable game. Our initial phase of official mod support, launching in May, will enable players to use tools like Maya and Blender to craft custom content. This is just the beginning; we plan to broaden mod support across various game elements, allowing you to customize and enrich your experience in numerous ways."
He promised a forthcoming detailed post about modding. Krafton, the company behind inZOI, continues to prioritize player feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure a high-quality gaming experience.
inZOI is set to enter Early Access on March 28, 2025, on PC, with plans for a full launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release remains undisclosed.
