YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, recently shared in a video titled 'A Bad Month' that he had been working on an animated adaptation of the survival horror sci-fi game, Soma, for a year. The project, however, has unfortunately been canceled, leaving him "quite upset."

Soma, developed by Frictional Games, the creators of the Amnesia series, was released in 2015 to widespread critical acclaim. Jacksepticeye, a known fan of the game, had streamed it extensively and considers it one of his top games of all time. He was deeply involved in the planning stages of the animated show and was excited about the prospect of bringing the game's compelling story to a new format.

In the video, Jacksepticeye explained that the project had been progressing well until it abruptly fell apart due to an unnamed party deciding to go "in a different direction." He chose not to delve into the specifics of the situation due to his emotional distress over the outcome.

The cancellation of the Soma animated show has significantly disrupted Jacksepticeye's plans for 2025, as he had intended to dedicate much of his time to this project. He expressed frustration over the wasted effort and the lack of content to show for his time and dedication.

Following the release of Soma, Frictional Games continued to expand the Amnesia franchise with "Amnesia: Rebirth" in 2020 and "Amnesia: The Bunker" in 2023. In a statement after the release of "Amnesia: The Bunker," Frictional's creative director Thomas Grip mentioned the company's intention to explore themes beyond horror, focusing on other emotional qualities and immersive experiences.
