To reach the Laser Hell stage, players must navigate a specific sequence on the elevator in the Isolation level, which transports them to a challenging platform filled with lasers. The streamers' success was captured in a video posted on BiliBili, showcasing their impressive achievement. Their victory unlocked a congratulatory message from Hazelight Founder Josef Fares, who admitted that even most of the development team struggled with this level. Fares took to Twitter (X) on March 19 to officially invite sharkOvO and E1uM4y to Hazelight Studios in Sweden, offering them an early look at the studio's next project.

Hazelight Studios Working On Its Next Game

In a recent interview with The Friends Per Second podcast on March 17, Josef Fares discussed Hazelight's ongoing projects and their relationship with publisher EA. Fares emphasized his excitement about the studio's next game, despite being unable to share details as it's still in the early stages. He noted that Hazelight typically spends no more than three or four years on a game, hinting at a possible reveal in the near future.

Fares also praised EA's support, stating that the publisher allows Hazelight full creative freedom. He acknowledged that while EA's reputation may be mixed with other developers, their relationship with Hazelight is one of mutual respect and trust, contributing to the studio's success.

First Update and Hitting 2 Million Sales in 1 Week

On March 17, Split Fiction received its first update, addressing several community-identified issues, including in-game mechanics, online play glitches, and localization. Additionally, the game has achieved a significant milestone by selling over 2 million copies within just one week of its release. This success surpasses the initial sales of Hazelight's previous hit, It Takes Two, which sold 1 million copies a few weeks after its launch in 2021 and reached 20 million by October 2024.
