FF7 Rebirth DLC Will Only Come If Fans Request It
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC Release: Director Discusses Mods and DLC Possibilities
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, recently shared insights into the game's PC version, addressing player interest in mods and potential DLC. Read on for the key takeaways from his interview on the Epic Games blog.
No Immediate DLC Plans, But Open to Requests
While the development team initially considered adding episodic DLC to the PC release, resource constraints led them to prioritize completing the final game in the trilogy. Hamaguchi stated that adding new content is not currently planned. However, he emphasized a willingness to consider player feedback: "If we receive strong requests from players after the release regarding certain matters, we would like to consider them." Substantial player demand could therefore influence future DLC decisions.
A Message to the Modding Community: Respectful Creation Only
Hamaguchi also addressed the modding community, acknowledging the inevitable creation of user-generated content despite the lack of official mod support. He extended a welcome to creative modding, but with a crucial caveat: "We respect the creativity of the modding community and welcome their creations—though we ask modders not to create or install anything offensive or inappropriate." This reasonable request aims to maintain a positive and respectful gaming environment.
PC Version Enhancements and Challenges
The PC version boasts graphical improvements over the PS5 release, including enhanced lighting and higher-resolution textures, addressing previous concerns about the "uncanny valley" effect on character faces. However, porting the game presented challenges, particularly in adapting the mini-games to PC controls and configurations.
The PC version of FF7 Rebirth launches January 23rd, 2025, on Steam and the Epic Games Store. For more information on the game itself, be sure to check out other resources.
