This impressive showing brings the total signature count to 397,943 – a significant 39% of the one-million-signature goal.

Launched in June, this petition addresses the growing concern of unplayable games after publisher support ends. The initiative seeks to legally mandate publishers to maintain the functionality of online games, even after official server shutdowns.

As the petition states, "This initiative demands publishers selling or licensing video games (or related assets) in the EU maintain the games' playable state. Specifically, it aims to prevent publishers from remotely disabling games without providing reasonable means for continued gameplay independent of publisher involvement."

Despite its substantial player base, Ubisoft shut down servers in March 2024, rendering player progress obsolete. This sparked outrage, leading to lawsuits in California alleging violation of consumer protection laws.

While significant progress has been made, the petition still requires substantial support to reach its one-million-signature target. Eligible EU citizens have until July 31st, 2025, to sign the petition online. Those outside the EU can contribute by spreading awareness.
