Minecraft Numerical Mastery: Divide and Conquer

Author : Isaac Jan 20,2025

Relive the classic couch co-op experience with Minecraft! Back when online multiplayer wasn't ubiquitous, friends gathered around a single console for gaming fun. This guide shows you how to recreate that magic on your Xbox One or other compatible console. Grab your friends, some snacks, and let's get started!

Important Notes:

  • Minecraft split-screen is only available on consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch). PC players are out of luck for this particular feature.
  • You'll need an HD (720p) compatible TV or monitor and a console that supports this resolution. HDMI connection is recommended; VGA may require manual resolution adjustment in your console settings.

Local Split-Screen Gameplay (Up to 4 Players):

This method lets up to four players share the same console. The process varies slightly per console, but the general steps remain consistent.

  1. Connect your console to your HD TV: Use an HDMI cable for optimal results.

  2. Launch Minecraft: Start a new game or continue an existing one. Crucially, disable multiplayer in the game settings.

Online Multiplayer with Local Split-Screen:

While you can't directly split-screen with remote online players, you can combine local split-screen with online multiplayer.

  1. Follow steps 1-4 above. However, this time, enable multiplayer in the game settings.

  2. Invite online friends: Send invitations to your remote friends to join your game.
