Treyarch Studios, the developer behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, has announced that they are actively working on reintroducing the ability to track challenges within the game's UI. This much-requested feature, which was present in 2023's Modern Warfare 3, was notably absent in Black Ops 6, causing disappointment among fans. While the exact release date for this feature remains unconfirmed, excitement is building as Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is slated to launch later this month, potentially bringing this anticipated update with it.
On January 9, Treyarch rolled out a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, focusing on enhancing both Multiplayer and Zombies modes. This patch included several bug fixes related to the game's UI and audio, and increased XP rewards for the recently introduced Red Light, Green Light game mode in Multiplayer. Additionally, the Zombies mode received significant changes, with Treyarch reversing a contentious update from January 3. Following community outcry, the studio removed the extended inter-round times and the delayed zombie spawns after five looped rounds in Directed Mode.
Treyarch Confirms New Black Ops 6 Feature in Development
Although not mentioned in the latest patch notes, Treyarch has confirmed through a Twitter interaction that they are developing a feature to track challenges during Multiplayer matches. This confirmation came in response to a fan's request, with Treyarch stating that the feature is "currently in the works." The challenge tracking feature, which was a hit in Modern Warfare 3, was notably missing from Black Ops 6 despite both games being accessible through the Call of Duty HQ app.
The addition of in-game challenge tracking is expected to be a significant enhancement for players striving for Black Ops 6's prestigious Mastery camos. If implemented similarly to Modern Warfare 3, players will be able to select specific challenges, such as headshot camos, and monitor their progress in real-time through the game's UI. This will provide immediate feedback on how close they are to achieving their goals, without needing to wait until the match ends.
In another interaction on Twitter, Treyarch also revealed that they are working on a major update for Black Ops 6 Zombies. Responding to a fan's suggestion, the studio confirmed that they are developing the ability to have separate HUD settings for Multiplayer and Zombies. This feature will allow players to customize their HUD preferences for each mode independently, eliminating the need to adjust settings every time they switch between modes.
