Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, set for January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual Xbox Developer Direct, and the first gaming showcase of the new year. The event follows the established pattern of January releases from previous years.

The showcase, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT, will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch. While rumors circulated earlier in January, the official announcement confirms the event's timing.

Confirmed Games:

The Developer Direct will feature at least three titles:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, this title was initially announced in June 2024 and showcased at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 launch is currently speculated.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games (Contrast, We Happy Few), originally announced in June 2023. A release date is anticipated.

Beyond the Confirmed Titles:

Previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and featured multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event likely holds additional unannounced surprises. The 2024 showcase, for example, included previews of Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana.
