Pokemon Vending Machines: What's Inside and Locations
If you're a Pokemon fan active on social media, you've likely encountered conversations about Pokemon vending machines. As The Pokemon Company expands their rollout across the United States, fans have questions – and we have the answers.
What Are Pokemon Vending Machines?
Pokemon vending machines are automated kiosks offering a variety of official merchandise, making it as easy as buying a soda – though often not as budget-friendly.
While several models have appeared over the years, the ones generating buzz in the US are trading card game (TCG) focused units, initially piloted in Washington state back in 2017. The trial was clearly successful, as more US grocery chains have been added to the network in recent years.
These machines are visually striking with vibrant colors and unmistakable Pokemon branding. I recently visited one inside a Kroger store, where it was prominently positioned right by the entrance.
Featuring a modern touch screen interface instead of old-fashioned buttons, you can easily browse available TCG products and make your selections before paying by credit card. The process includes charming Pokemon animations that make purchasing card packs an entertaining experience.
You'll be prompted to provide an email address for a digital receipt. Be aware that The Pokemon Company does not accept returns for any TCG merchandise purchased from these machines.
What Do Pokemon Vending Machines Sell?

Primarily, US Pokemon vending machines stock Pokemon TCG products, including Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Packs, and related collectibles.
When I checked the Pokemon TCG vending machine at Kroger during the busy Thanksgiving weekend, I was surprised to find it still reasonably well-stocked. While the latest Elite Trainer Boxes were sold out, multiple booster packs and older trainer boxes remained available.
Typically, these machines don't carry plush toys, apparel, video games, or other Pokemon merchandise. A limited number of Pokemon Center vending machines in Washington State offered broader product ranges, but these appear to be gradually replaced by the streamlined TCG-focused models.
