Top Marvel Snap Redwing Decks
Marvel Snap's menagerie has been rather sparse, featuring only a handful of animal companions like Cosmo, Groose, Zabu, and Hit-Monkey. But that changes with the Brave New World season, introducing Falcon's trusty avian ally, Redwing, to the roster.
How Redwing Works in Marvel Snap
Redwing is a 3-cost, 4-power card with a unique ability: "The first time this moves, add a card from your hand to the old location." However, there are important caveats. This ability triggers only once, regardless of attempts to reuse it via cards like Symbiote Spider-Man or returning it to your hand. This significantly limits its strategic applications.
Precisely targeting a card with Redwing proves challenging. Move decks often utilize low-cost cards (like Iron Fist) which you'd rather avoid; conversely, Scream decks typically manipulate opponent's cards, not your own.
Despite these limitations, affordable move options exist for lower Collection Level players, such as Madame Web or Cloak. Redwing’s potential lies in surprising plays; imagine strategically deploying a Galactus early or summoning a powerful card like The Infinaut.
Best Day One Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap
Ares and Surtur dominated the previous season, and they return in a revised Scream-based build, leveraging cards like Aero and Heimdall to outmaneuver opponents. Redwing surprisingly integrates, despite the preference for playing Surtur on turn 3 in almost every scenario. Here's the decklist:
Hydra Bob, Scream, Kraven, Captain America, Redwing, Polaris, Surtur, Ares, Cull Obsidian, Aero, Heimdall, Magneto [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
This deck is expensive, featuring several Series 5 cards: Hydra Bob, Scream, Redwing, Surtur, Ares, and Cull Obsidian. Hydra Bob can be substituted with a 1-cost card like Rocket Raccoon or Iceman, but the remaining Series 5 cards are crucial.
The strategy centers on playing Surtur on turn 3, followed by high-power cards to boost Surtur's power. Alternatively, Scream provides power manipulation. Polaris, Aero, and Magneto offer card movement, while Redwing, when played into Heimdall, buffs Surtur and draws a high-power card from your hand.
Another potential home for Redwing is a Madame Web deck, especially given Dagger's nerf impacting move-focused strategies. Madame Web's Ongoing ability complements current Ongoing-style decks, creating a niche for Redwing:
Ant-Man, Madame Web, Psylocke, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Luke Cage, Captain America, Redwing, Doom 2099, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
This deck includes two Series 5 cards: Madame Web and Doom 2099. While Madame Web isn't strictly necessary, removing her necessitates removing Redwing for another Ongoing card like Mobius M. Mobius.
This is primarily a Doom 2099 Ongoing deck, aiming for rapid power distribution across locations. Madame Web facilitates this, allowing strategic manipulation of Doom 2099 bots. Redwing provides a single opportunity to draw a card on the next turn after being moved by Madame Web.
On turn 6, Doctor Doom or Spectrum are played for power distribution or a final power surge.
Is Redwing Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?
Currently, no. Redwing feels underpowered and fits within a weak archetype. Saving resources for future cards is recommended unless significant buffs are implemented by Second Dinner.
