Threads of Time, An RPG Inspired by Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger, Lands on Xbox and Steam

Unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2024's Xbox showcase, Threads of Time is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and Steam. While a release date remains unannounced, PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions are also under consideration.

Already generating buzz, Threads of Time is poised to rival Sea of Stars as a spiritual successor to Square Enix's Chrono series. Riyo Games' debut title promises a captivating retro-style experience.

"At Riyo Games, we aim to create retro-inspired RPGs that evoke cherished childhood memories," the studio stated. "Our journey began with a childhood pact – two friends playing RPGs on a CRT TV, dreaming of one day creating their own epic adventures."

Featuring vibrant 2.5D pixel art, Threads of Time follows a diverse cast of characters from various eras on a time-spanning quest. The narrative unfolds across millennia, from dinosaurs to robots, culminating in a confrontation with a threat to the very fabric of time. Stunning anime cutscenes enhance the intricate storyline.

The party includes intriguing members such as Rye, a swordsman from 1000 AD; Bo, a veterinarian from 12,000,000 BC; Rin, a kitsune from 2400 AD; and more.
