The Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster seeks to revitalize the series. Director Tatsuya Ogushi and Lead Planner Takahiro Sakiyama expressed their hopes in a Famitsu interview (translated via Google) that this remaster will not only attract new players but also rekindle the passion of longtime fans, potentially leading to future installments. Ogushi, deeply connected to the series, acknowledged the absence of creator Yoshitaka Murayama, who passed away earlier this year, stating, "I’m sure Murayama would have wanted to be involved as well." Sakiyama, director of Suikoden V, emphasized his desire to reintroduce Genso Suikoden to the world, hoping for continued expansion of the IP.
