"Star Wars: Hunters Shuts Down Before First Anniversary"

Star Wars: Hunters has announced its shutdown before even reaching its first year, yet it will get to celebrate its one-year anniversary before closing down. The question arises: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game on its way out? The answer might depend on the memories and experiences players have had with the game.

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

The servers are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's run after just nine months since its launch. Players will have a few extra weeks to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.

Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is set to release one final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce the last new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. Additionally, in-game purchases will be disabled on the same day.

Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players are advised to use any unspent Crystals as there will be no refunds offered.

It Isn’t Shocking

While the shutdown is unfortunate, it doesn't come as a surprise. Star Wars: Hunters seemed destined for failure from the outset. Announced in 2020, the game faced multiple delays and limited beta testing in the SEA and ANZAC regions only.

The lack of major console support and a tepid reception contributed to the decision to shut down Star Wars: Hunters. Even the game's design missed the mark, opting for generic original characters rather than the iconic figures from the Star Wars universe that fans adore.

If you've uninstalled the game but wish to experience it one last time, it's still available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
