The upcoming game, Lost Soul Aside, developed by UltiZero Games, will face a region lock upon its release, much to the dismay of gamers. This decision stems from Sony's ongoing policy to limit the availability of games published under their banner. According to SteamDB, the game will not be accessible in over 130+ countries, all of which lack support from the PlayStation Network (PSN).

Interestingly, Lost Soul Aside does not mandate a PSN account for gameplay. However, the region lock means the game won't be listed on Steam in countries without PSN support. To circumvent this, players would need to create a new Steam account in a PSN-supported country, a move that has perplexed many, especially following PlayStation's recent decision to drop PSN requirements for their PC titles. The backlash on social media has been intense, with a significant number of PC gamers vowing not to purchase the game due to these restrictions.

Since its initial reveal in 2016, Lost Soul Aside has consistently showcased a unique blend of fantasy elements with hyper-realistic visuals. In an interview with IGN on February 20, 2025, UltiZero Games CEO Yang Bing elaborated on the game's inspiration and style.

Bing emphasized that the game's visual and combat style, characterized by high speed and flashy action, has remained consistent since its first promotional video. He stated, "This is something that we have been sticking to for all these years. Throughout the development process, we've been influenced by new and excellent works, shaping our thoughts and evolving our initial concept into a more polished and mature version."

Bing also highlighted the influence of Final Fantasy 15 on Lost Soul Aside, particularly in the design of the protagonist, Kaser. His cartoonish facial features and hairstyles juxtaposed against the realistic textures of his skin, hair, and clothing exemplify this blend of reality and fantasy.

Lost Soul Aside draws inspiration from a variety of acclaimed Japanese games, including Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry, which are reflected in various elements of the game. In a discussion with Famitsu on February 20, 2025, Bing detailed how these influences have shaped the game.

He noted that the design of Kaser is heavily inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Bing explained, "I had a designer craft the clothes for the main character, aiming to fuse realistic and fantasy elements, much like in FF. After designing the clothes, we actually created and integrated them into the game. This approach makes the character, Kazel, feel tangible and authentically real to the players."

Regarding combat, Bing drew parallels with Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry, emphasizing the fast-paced and visually striking nature of the gameplay. He added, "We're continuously refining the combat system to maintain its speed while adding depth. Players can develop their unique playstyle, and even those not adept at sequential moves can leverage various systems to achieve high performance and enjoy a fluid gaming experience."
