A Sci-Fi Game?

Glauco Longhi, a character artist and game developer who previously worked on God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök, has returned to Santa Monica Studio. His updated LinkedIn profile reveals he's overseeing character development for an "unannounced project." Longhi's statement, "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames," has sparked considerable interest.

This, combined with Cory Barlog's (director of the 2018 God of War) earlier statement that the studio is working on "a lot of different things," and the studio's active recruitment of a character artist and tools programmer, strongly suggests a significant new project is underway.

While speculation points towards a new sci-fi IP, possibly led by God of War 3's Stig Asmussen, no official confirmation exists. Previous rumors, including Sony's trademark of "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" and a possibly canceled PS4 sci-fi project, add layers of intrigue to the mystery. The ongoing expansion of the Santa Monica Studio team further strengthens the belief that a substantial new game is in development.
