Speculation about the PS5 Pro, fueled by earlier leaks, reached fever pitch at Gamescom 2024. Developers openly discussed the console, with some even delaying game releases to coincide with its launch, according to Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech.

Palumbo revealed a key detail: an anonymous developer confirmed receiving PS5 Pro specifications and anticipating significantly improved Unreal Engine 5 performance compared to the standard PS5.

This corroborates a report from Multiplayer, an Italian gaming site, which reported a developer delaying a game launch to align with the rumored PS5 Pro release. Palumbo emphasized that these were likely different developers, with the one he spoke to being from a smaller studio, suggesting widespread access to PS5 Pro specs amongst developers.

Imminent PS5 Pro Release Predicted by Analyst

Adding credence to the Gamescom buzz, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X in July that Sony would likely announce the PS5 Pro later this year, possibly during a September 2024 State of Play. Aguilar suggested Sony needs to act swiftly to avoid impacting current PS5 sales.

This aligns with the PlayStation 4 Pro's 2016 launch, announced September 7th and released November 10th. Palumbo notes that if Sony follows a similar pattern, a formal announcement is imminent.
