Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 16" 2560x1600 OLED Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX RTX 5080 Gaming Laptop with 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD
$3,599.99 at Lenovo
The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i features a 16-inch 2560x1600 240Hz OLED display, an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz memory, and 2TB (2x1TB) of SSD storage. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX delivers significantly more power than the Core Ultra 9 185H found in previous flagship models, which prioritized energy efficiency over being a true successor to the i9-14900HX. This new CPU pairs exceptionally well with the mobile GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card.
Modern connectivity features bring the Legion Pro up to date, including WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support, a USB Type-C port with up to 140W Power Delivery, Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1 (40Gbps), and even a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port. The laptop retains a now-less-common RJ45 Ethernet port and includes a webcam privacy shutter. Its chassis continues to use a combination of aluminum and magnesium, ensuring a durable and premium build quality.
Our Experience with an RTX 5080 Gaming Laptop
Although we haven't had the chance to review Lenovo's latest Legion model yet, we have tested a gaming laptop featuring the RTX 5080 GPU. In terms of raw rasterization performance, the RTX 5080 only shows a modest improvement over the RTX 4080. However, its performance sees a substantial boost in games that support DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation. Our review unit, the Gigabyte Aorus Master, was equipped with a 150W TGP RTX 5080 and a 2560x1600 display. Given that the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i shares the same TGP and display resolution, we can expect it to deliver similar gaming performance.
Gigabyte Aorus Master 16" RTX 5080 Laptop Review by Chris Coke
"It's important to note that Nvidia has been clear about linking the 50-series' value to its AI capabilities rather than just raw native rendering performance. While the RTX 5080's performance is disappointingly close to the RTX 4080 in some scenarios, this gap vanishes in titles that support multi-frame generation. Although 'fake frames' have been a topic of debate, the technology, when it works, is impressive and offers a dramatic performance increase. The experience can vary from game to game depending on how well latency is handled. For instance, Alan Wake 2 can feel slightly more laggy at higher multiplier settings, whereas Cyberpunk 2077 does not. With this technology and upcoming features like neural shaders, there's a compelling case for investing in these future-proof capabilities. However, you are essentially buying into a promise, as Nvidia and game developers continue to add support to both new and existing titles."
