Pokémon Go rings in 2025 with a New Year's event! While lacking new Pokémon, Shiny variants, or costumes, Niantic still offers festive fun. The event, running from December 30th, 2024, 10:00 am to January 1st, 2025, 8:00 pm, features special wild Pokémon encounters.

Expect to find Shiny-capable Jigglypuff (with a ribbon), Hoothoot (in a New Year's outfit), and Wurmple (sporting a party hat). Event bonuses include a generous 2,025 XP for Excellent Throws and celebratory fireworks.

Raids offer more festive encounters: Tier One features a snowflake-hatted Pikachu, while Tier Three includes party-hat-wearing Raticate and Wobbuffet, both with increased Shiny rates. Don't forget to check Field Research tasks and PokéStops for additional themed Pokémon.

Beyond the New Year's event, January brings the Eggs-pedition Access, a month-long paid experience ($4.99) starting January 1st. This unlocks increased Gift capacity (up to 40), daily Gift opening limits (up to 50), and boosted Gift acquisition from Photo Discs (150).
