Legendary Pokémon Arrive in Pokémon GO
Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance
Following the December 2024 announcement of the Unova Tour (February 2025), Niantic has revealed the exciting debut of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and the highly anticipated Shiny Meloetta.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, will have the unique opportunity to catch and fuse Kyurem into its Black and White forms. Base Kyurem is obtained by defeating either Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids.
Once you've caught Kyurem, you can fuse it with either Zekrom or Reshiram to unlock its alternate forms and powerful new attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's the fusion breakdown:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, 30 Reshiram Candy
Fusion Energy is earned by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to the base Kyurem form requires no Fusion Energy or Candy. Plus, enjoy increased shiny rates for Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom during the event!
For those unable to attend the in-person events, the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global event runs March 1st-2nd, 2025, and is free for all players!
Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration!
In addition to Kyurem's alternate forms, Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this melodious Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the Masterwork Research doesn't expire.

Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. The first three are encountered in the main storyline, while Meloetta is a post-game reward. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, each capable of learning Ice Burn and Freeze Shock, mirroring their Pokémon GO counterparts.
With the Tao Trio's alternate forms available for a limited time in February (in-person) and globally in March, trainers can fully experience the wonders of Unova!
