Pokémon Sleep Evolves to Pokémon Works Lead
Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company's subsidiary, Pokémon Works, will assume responsibility for the development and future updates of Pokémon Sleep. This marks a shift from the previous developer, Select Button.
From Select Button to Pokémon Works
Established in March 2024, Pokémon Works, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company, will gradually take over Pokémon Sleep's development and operation from Select Button Co., Ltd. This transition was initially announced via an in-app notice on the Japanese version of Pokémon Sleep. The impact on the global version remains to be seen, as the announcement isn't yet reflected in the global app's news section.
The announcement, as translated, stated that development and operation had previously been a joint effort between Select Button and The Pokémon Company.
Pokémon Works, a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd., is based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, sharing a location with ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Their representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, highlighted their prior contribution to Pokémon HOME. While their direct Pokémon involvement has been limited, their stated goal is to enhance the Pokémon experience, making interactions with Pokémon more engaging and enjoyable for players. Their specific plans for Pokémon Sleep's future remain undisclosed.
