Path of Exile 2: Delirium Guide – Fog Mechanics, Passives, & Rewards
In Path of Exile 2, the Atlas map features four main endgame events: Rituals, Breaches, Expeditions, and Delirium. Notably, PoE 2 brings back several seasonal mechanics from the original Path of Exile Leagues as endgame features, with the Delirium encounter being a direct revival of the Delirium League. This guide will walk you through how to initiate Delirium events, what to expect during these encounters, how to access the Simulacrum Delirium Pinnacle map, how to navigate the Delirium Passive Skill Tree, and the rewards you can earn from completing this challenging endgame encounter in PoE 2.
PoE 2 Delirium & Fog Mechanic, Explained
On the Atlas screen, map nodes that guarantee an endgame event are marked with specific icons. Nodes containing a Delirium Mirror are identified by a white and black icon resembling the Delirium Mirror itself. To ensure a Delirium event on a map node, you can slot a Delirium Precursor Tablet into a Lost Tower.
Once inside a Delirium map, you'll find the Delirium Mirror near your spawn point. It appears as multicolored shattered glass, and as you approach, a ghostly energy will emanate from your character towards it. To start the Delirium encounter, simply walk into the mirror, which will spawn a large circle of Fog around you.
This Fog circle will move across the map, and as you progress further, the enemies within it become increasingly difficult. However, if you step out of the Fog, the Delirium encounter will end, and the map will revert to its normal state.
Enemies within the Delirium Fog are enhanced and have a chance to drop special Delirium rewards such as Distilled Emotions, which are useful for crafting, and Simulacrum Splinters, which are essential for summoning the Pinnacle Boss. If you encounter a Fractured Mirror during your journey, approach it to spawn additional mobs and gain more loot.
During a Delirium encounter, you might randomly encounter two bosses: Kosis and Omniphobia. These are not just Rare enemies but full-fledged bosses with a boss HP bar, so be prepared for a challenging fight. While they are not Pinnacle bosses, they can appear during the Pinnacle event for Delirium.
Delirium Pinnacle Event: Simulacrum
Each endgame event in PoE 2 offers items that can be used to summon a Pinnacle Boss. Within the Delirium Fog, enemies at high Waystone tiers may drop Simulacrum Splinters. Collecting 300 of these splinters allows you to combine them into a Simulacrum, which you can then place in the Realmgate.
Upon activation, you'll be transported to the Simulacrum, a challenging 15-wave encounter that escalates in difficulty as you progress. The likelihood of Delirium bosses spawning increases with each wave. Successfully completing all 15 waves will reward you with 2 Delirium Passive points.
Delirium Passive Skill Tree
The Delirium Passive Skill Tree, located within the Atlas Passive Skill tree, enhances the Delirium event by adding modifiers that can make it more rewarding or extend its mechanics. To access your Delirium passives, open the Atlas Map, then the Atlas Passive Skill Tree via the top-left button, and look to the top right side of the Atlas tree.
The Delirium Passive Skill Tree is distinctively white and shaped like the mirror on the Delirium event icon. It features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes that increase the difficulty of Simulacrum events. Each time you complete a Simulacrum and earn 2 Delirium Passive Skill points, you can further enhance the difficulty of this Pinnacle event to reach new Notable nodes.
Notable Delirium Passive | Effect | Requirements |
---|---|---|
Get Out Of My Head! | Waystones found in Maps have a 20% chance to come with an Instilled Emotion effect | N/A |
Would You Like To See My Face? | Delirium Fog doubles the difficulty scaling as you get further from the mirror, but also doubles Splinter stack size | Get Out Of My Head! |
You Can't Just Wake Up From This One | Delirium Fog dissipates 30% slower | N/A |
I'm Not Afraid Of You! | Delirium Bosses have 50% increased Life, but drop 50% more Splinters | You Can't Just Wake Up From This One |
They're Coming To Get You... | Delirium Encounters spawn Unique Bosses 25% more often, and slaying Rare monsters pauses Delirium Fog dissipation for 4 seconds | N/A |
Isn't It Tempting? | Delirium Encounters have a 30% chance to generate another Reward, but Delirium Demons deal 30% increased Damage | N/A |
The Mirrors... The Mirrors! | Delirium Fog spawns Fractured Mirrors twice as often | N/A |
It's Not Real, It's Not Real! | Delirium-affected enemies drop 50% more Reward progress, but Delirium Fog dissipates 50% faster | N/A |
For optimal rewards from the Delirium encounter, prioritize acquiring 'You Can't Just Wake Up From This One', 'Get Out Of My Head!', and 'They're Coming To Get You...'. These nodes significantly boost your rewards without the drawbacks associated with other Notable Nodes in this Passive Skill Tree.
PoE 2 Delirium Event Rewards
During a Delirium encounter, enemies affected by the Delirium Fog have a chance to drop Distilled Emotions. Bosses defeated in either the Delirium encounter or the Simulacrum event typically drop these as well.
Distilled Emotions are unique Currencies that can be combined to Anoint your Amulet with innate Notable Passive Skills, saving you from spending Passive Skill Points to reach desired nodes. To see which combination of Distilled Emotions is required for a specific Anoint, hover over the desired Notable Passive node. Right-click any Distilled Emotion to open the Instilling window, place your Amulet in the top slot, and the correct combination of Distilled Emotions in the bottom slots to create the desired Anoint.
Additionally, Distilled Emotions can be used to add guaranteed Modifiers to Waystones, increasing the Delirious debuff percentage and thus the number and power of mobs in the Delirium Fog.
Enemies may also drop Simulacrum Splinters, which can be combined to form a Simulacrum. Place this in the Realmgate on the Atlas Map to access a special 15-wave Simulacrum event. Completing this event rewards you with Delirium Passive points and a guaranteed Unique piece of equipment exclusive to the Delirium event.
