Palworld Update 0.5.0 Adds Crossplay Across All Platforms, Blueprint Upgrading, Photo Mode and More
Palworld's latest update, version 0.5.0, introduces a host of exciting features that significantly enhance the gameplay experience across all platforms. One of the headline additions is **crossplay**, allowing players from different systems to join forces and explore the game together seamlessly.
A major feature of this update is the **Global Palbox**, which enables players to store Pal data and transfer their Pals between different worlds. This addition facilitates a more interconnected gaming experience. Complementing this, the **Dimensional Pal Storage** system offers a storage capacity ten times that of the regular Palbox. This new system can be accessed by guild members, but it also offers the flexibility of private settings for personal use, making it a versatile tool for managing your Pals.
Players now have the ability to change their character's appearance without impacting their armor stats through the new **Cosmetic Armour System**. This system, accessible via the Antique Dresser, allows for a more personalized look without compromising performance. Additionally, the introduction of **Photo Mode** from the Pal Command Wheel enhances the ability to capture stunning in-game moments, offering players a chance to hide the UI and adjust the camera freely.
The update also includes a **Drafting Table**, which lets players combine lower-rarity blueprints to craft higher-rarity items, adding a strategic element to crafting. For Mac users, **dedicated servers** have been added, ensuring a smoother gaming experience on this platform.
Developer Pocketpair is actively working on bringing dedicated servers to the PlayStation 5 version, although a specific release date has not yet been announced. Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an impressive 32 million players, highlighting its immense popularity. The studio has outlined an ambitious content roadmap for 2025, promising further enhancements like an "ending scenario" and additional new content.
Initially launched on Steam for $30 and simultaneously available on Xbox and PC via Game Pass, Palworld shattered sales and concurrent player records. The overwhelming success led Pocketpair to establish Palworld Entertainment with Sony, aiming to expand the IP and bring the game to the PS5. However, the game's success has also attracted legal scrutiny, with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filing a lawsuit against Pocketpair for alleged patent infringements. In response, Pocketpair has made adjustments to Pal summoning mechanics and is prepared to defend its position in court.
