Nintendo Switch 2 Reviews Delayed Until June 5
The gaming community is on the edge of their seats as the countdown to the Nintendo Switch 2 launch on June 5th continues. However, IGN readers should be aware of a significant change in Nintendo's approach this time around: there will be no traditional pre-launch review access to the Switch 2 hardware. This decision also means that we won't be able to provide timely reviews of key titles like Mario Kart World, Welcome Tour, and the upgraded Zelda games before the launch.
This development is less than ideal and has disrupted the usual review process not just for us at IGN, but for the entire gaming media landscape, including our friends at Digital Foundry. We take great pride in delivering detailed insights into new hardware and games right when you're making crucial decisions about your purchases and gaming time.

Nevertheless, we're no strangers to adapting to such situations. We're geared up to provide you with the next best thing, even if it means a bit more hustle on our part. As soon as our preordered Switch 2 consoles arrive, we'll dive straight into providing you with comprehensive coverage. This includes a review in progress of Mario Kart World by our in-house champion and NVC host, Logan Plant, as well as in-depth impressions of the Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and third-party ports like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy. We'll focus on their performance and how they compare to previous versions on other platforms. Simultaneously, our team will evaluate the entire hardware lineup, from the Switch 2 console itself, reviewed by Tom Marks, to the new Joy-Cons, the Pro Controller 2, covered by Michael Higham, the camera, and all other available accessories.
