Hotta Studios is gearing up for the first closed beta test of their highly anticipated 3D open-world RPG, Neverness to Everness. Unfortunately, this initial test is exclusively for players residing in mainland China, leaving eager fans elsewhere to watch from the sidelines.

According to Gematsu, the beta test comes with some exciting new lore reveals. If you've seen the trailers showcasing the city of Eibon, you're likely already familiar with the game's setting. The story takes on a slightly more comedic tone, blending the weird and the mundane within the world of Hetherau.

Hotta Studios, a subsidiary of Perfect World—the creators of the hit game Tower of Fantasy—brings their experience to Neverness to Everness. While the game fits into the evolving 3D RPG genre with an urban twist, it stands out with unique features like open-world driving. Imagine tearing through city streets at breakneck speeds—although we recommend sticking to the virtual world for your high-speed thrills. Players can buy and customize a variety of cars, but remember, in-game crashes can be just as destructive as in real life.

As Neverness to Everness moves toward its full release, it will enter a competitive market. It faces challenges from MiHoYo's Zenless Zone Zero, which has set a high bar for mobile 3D open-world RPGs, and NetEase's Ananta (formerly Project Mugen), developed by Naked Rain, which also explores a similar setting.

ytNever say ever...again
