NBA 2K25 kicked off the new year with a major update, paving the way for Season 4's January 10th launch. This update boasts a range of improvements, including updated player likenesses, court refinements, and enhancements across various game modes. Building on its September 2024 release, which introduced ray tracing in The City and the return of the Auction House, NBA 2K25 continues to receive regular updates, with the previous Patch 3.0 delivering gameplay fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and new content.
This latest update tackles various issues across multiple modes while preparing for Season 4. Fixes include resolving a rare hang in Play Now Online, correcting leaderboard rankings, and updating team-specific details like the Los Angeles Clippers court logo and sponsor patches on several uniforms. The Emirates NBA Cup court has also been updated for accuracy. Several players and coaches, including Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid, received updated in-game appearances, boosting visual fidelity.
NBA 2K25 Patch 4.0: Major Gameplay Enhancements
Gameplay enhancements prioritize realism and player control. "Light Pressure" coverage is now divided into Weak, Moderate, and Strong bands, providing more detailed shot feedback. Ball-and-rim interaction has been refined to reduce excessively long rebounds. Defensive mechanics have been updated to prevent trailing defenders from unfairly disrupting skill dunks, and the Offensive 3 Seconds rule has been implemented for 1v1 Proving Grounds. City and Pro-Am modes see performance and stability improvements for smoother gameplay.
Further improvements include MyCAREER progression fixes, ensuring proper badge unlocks and preventing skipped NBA Cup games. MyTEAM receives visual updates to player cards and menus, along with fixes for saving Favorite Plays and resolving progress blockers during challenges. MyNBA, MyNBA Online, and The W benefit from stability improvements, addressing issues like NBA Cup simulation problems and league contraction when using the Start Today feature.
