Naughty Dog's Next Game Rumored to Echo FromSoftware Style
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet promises to offer players a vastly expanded sense of freedom compared to the studio's earlier works. Drawing inspiration from the acclaimed Elden Ring, the developers are set to introduce open-world exploration mechanics that enhance the gaming experience. Journalist Ben Hanson has disclosed that the game unfolds on a singular, vast planet where players will delve into the enigmas of a lost civilization and explore a new religion, pivotal to the storyline. While it's yet to be seen how closely the game will adhere to traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the developers are steering away from the linear narratives that characterized their past projects.
The Heretic Prophet marks the studio's inaugural venture into a solo player experience, with no companions or allies by your side. Neil Druckmann emphasizes that the game aims to evoke a profound sense of isolation in an uncharted universe while deeply exploring themes of faith and religion. The narrative unfolds in an alternate future on the planet Sempiria, isolated from the galaxy for over 600 years. It is on this mysterious world that bounty hunter Jordan Moon lands, fulfilling her contract.
Druckmann also highlights that the game's development drew influences from titles like Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This suggests a move away from conventional guidance systems towards a narrative style where players actively piece together the story from scattered fragments.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, although a release date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new title.
