Marvel Brings Back Iron Man Foe for Vision Quest
Marvel is reportedly reviving a key villain from the debut Marvel Cinematic Universe film Iron Man for the upcoming Vision Quest series.
As reported by Deadline, Faran Tahir will reprise his role as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the terrorist leader from Iron Man's opening sequences, nearly 20 years later. The character orchestrated Tony Stark's captivity in Afghanistan before being double-crossed by Obadiah Stane.
Though Hamidmi al-Wazar vanished after Iron Man's first act in 2008, his return mirrors Samuel Sterns' reappearance in Captain America: Brave New World. The Vision Quest series, featuring Paul Bettany as White Vision post-WandaVision, currently has no confirmed release date.

Initially portrayed as a standard terrorist leader, Hamidmi al-Wazar's significance grew during MCU's Phase 4. His group was later acknowledged as part of the Ten Rings organization - a connection that gained substantial development in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The character has effectively been retconned as a Ten Rings commander overseeing Afghan operations. With Shang-Chi leaving narrative threads open, Vision Quest could potentially tie into these established connections through Hamidmi al-Wazar's return.
Similar to how Deadpool & Wolverine revisits Fox's Marvel legacy, Vision Quest may explore overlooked elements from the main MCU continuity.
Reports also indicate James Spader will return as Ultron for the first time since Avengers: Age of Ultron, though substantial details about the series remain scarce.
