Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
Lies of P's Director, Choi Ji-Won, shared a fresh perspective after engaging with Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test. Speaking at the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC) with Eurogamer, Choi, a known admirer of FromSoftware's work, praised Nightreign's innovative approach. He said, "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new. So that obviously gave me the impression that they're good developers, they always push their boundaries, their imagination and vision, and it shows. In turn, that for some reason motivated me to deliver the Overture experience as good as it could be."
This experience has spurred Choi to consider venturing into multiplayer game development. He noted, "In terms of our future endeavours, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration in the future."
Despite his affinity for FromSoftware's titles, Choi emphasized to Games Radar+ during the 2025 GDC that his inspiration stems from a wide range of games. He stated, "I'm a fan of many, many types of games, and that variety of different experiences and inspirations that I pick up with many different games I love, I sort of mold it into my own Lies of P experience. In the end, it's a combination of diverse inspirations that I get from many games that I love, and then I'm trying to transform that into a Lies of P experience that I'm developing for the fans of Lies of P now."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi revealed that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players between 15-20 hours to complete, packed with numerous bosses and additional content initially intended for the game's launch. He explained, "Overture is not a complete separate piece from the base game, and there's a lot of interconnectivity between the two, so developing the expansion was almost like an effort to complete the Lies of P experience, and that was challenging."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to Krat during its last days of haunting, following a legendary Stalker. It incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts that couldn't be included at launch due to production constraints. Choi likened this expansion to a Director's Cut, rounding out the game's narrative.
He further noted, "When we released the base game, we had to prioritize, as we mentioned, to do the best quality, so we couldn't deliver everything at once because we wanted to make sure what we can deliver has the best quality." The support from the community after the base game's release motivated the team to fulfill their vision with this expansion.
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In an interview with IGN at the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Choi clarified that Overture is not linked to the final cutscene of the base game. While the end of the game hinted at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in the works, though details remain under wraps.
He assured fans, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."
Choi encouraged players to revisit the base game for clues about what Overture might offer and mentioned that he's been intrigued by fan theories, some of which he found remarkably accurate.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for a Summer 2025 release, though a specific date has not been announced. The DLC will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates by checking out our article below!
