Lhea and the Word Spirit: A Roguelite Exploring Life and Death
Solo developer Jo Drolet has unveiled the eagerly awaited Lhea and the Word Spirit, a captivating single-player roguelite set to launch in August. In this enchanting game, you'll guide lost souls through the mysterious In-Between, a realm that straddles the line between life and death. Accompanied by an ancient Word Spirit, your journey will be visually minimalist yet rich with an innovative "timeline battle system".
In Lhea and the Word Spirit, players will have the unique ability to manipulate the timeline of battles to advance through the game. Equip and upgrade various enchanted rings, each offering different spells and the potential to unlock hidden secrets. These elements are key to unraveling the enigma of the In-Between.
As a roguelite, each playthrough in Lhea and the Word Spirit offers a fresh experience with procedurally generated realms, demanding different strategies on every run. This ensures that no two adventures are the same, keeping the gameplay dynamic and engaging.
“I wanted to create this charming minimalistic world about life and death with the hope that players lose track of time and feel enspirited by this dance between unexpected discoveries, strategy flow and heartwarming music,” says Jo Drolet.
Lhea and the Word Spirit is slated for a full release in August, but fans won't have to wait that long to get a taste of the action. A demo will be available during Steam Next Fest from June 9th to the 16th. If you're looking for similar experiences to enjoy until then, check out our list of the best roguelikes on Android.
