Final Outpost Definitive Edition Launch Pushed to Next Month

  • The release of Final Outpost: Definitive Edition has been delayed until next month.
  • You'll have to wait a little longer to dive into this survival strategy zombie game.
  • But don't worry—the extra development time means a more polished and complete experience at launch.

Unfortunately for Final Outpost fans, the game appears to embody one of the most well-known traits of the undead: being painfully slow. Final Outpost: Definitive Edition has been delayed, though only until June 12, so the wait won't be too long.

While this news is sure to disappoint fans, it's hard to fault Exabyte Games. Final Outpost already delivers an engaging zombie survival strategy experience, and the definitive edition aims to elevate it even further.

This updated version introduces several major new mechanics. For starters, you can now establish multiple outposts, each with unique map modifiers affecting weather, seasons, and zombie behavior. Then there's the Trader—a new character who brings an economic dimension to your survival efforts, letting you build a functioning economy alongside your daily struggle to stay alive.

What Final Outpost may lack in graphical polish, it more than compensates for with gameplay depth. The core loop remains unchanged: you build a survivors' outpost and manage the roles and tasks of each member. And, of course, you'll face challenges not just from the walking dead, but also from scarce resources like food, shelter, and other essentials.

Although the delay is disappointing, it ultimately means players will get a more refined and fully realized version of Final Outpost—one that's been optimized for the best possible experience.
