LEGO Enters the Gaming World with In-House Projects
LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has unveiled ambitious plans to significantly expand the company's digital footprint, venturing into the world of video game development. This expansion will involve both independent game creation and strategic partnerships.
“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” Niels Christiansen
This strategic shift doesn't signal an end to LEGO's successful brand licensing agreements with third-party developers. Recent reports, for example, indicate TT Games, renowned for its popular LEGO game series, is currently developing a new title, likely based on a Warner Bros. franchise.

LEGO's most prominent gaming foray to date is its ongoing collaboration with Epic Games. Last year's hugely popular LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite exemplifies the brand's successful integration into existing gaming platforms.
The company also enjoys a long-standing relationship with TT Games, spanning two decades of successful LEGO-themed adventure games. While recent projects from TT Games have been relatively quiet, speculation points towards a new LEGO Harry Potter game, potentially inspired by the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Further demonstrating LEGO's versatility in the gaming sector is its partnership with 2K Games, resulting in the release of LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game launched last year, which was well-received.
