Hyper Light Breaker's Synthwave Overgrowth is vast, and traversing its largely empty expanse can be a chore—unless you utilize the often-overlooked hoverboard. Contrary to what the game might initially suggest, this crucial movement enhancer is available from the very beginning.

Essentially acting as a sprint function, the hoverboard dramatically increases your speed, allowing you to cover significant distances while gradually depleting your energy. This guide details how to activate and effectively use this game-changer.

How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker

Summoning your hoverboard is surprisingly simple: just hold down the dodge button. Your Breaker will dash forward and automatically mount the hoverboard as long as you continue holding the button.

Controlling the hoverboard is intuitive. Holding the left analog stick steers, providing gradual turns that are more responsive at lower speeds. At maximum speed, turning becomes less agile. To dismount, simply release the dodge button. The hoverboard will also automatically deactivate if your energy runs out.

Monitor your energy level, displayed next to your Breaker's companion. If it gets low, briefly dismount to allow it to replenish, preventing an unexpected interruption to your journey.

Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses

While the hoverboard doesn't offer tricks or combat capabilities, it boasts some valuable features. Most notably, it floats on water, eliminating the need to circumvent rivers and inlets. Its functionality remains consistent on both land and water; simply maintain your hoverboard activation as you enter the water to seamlessly glide across the surface.

While submerged, you cannot summon the hoverboard; it must already be active upon water contact. The hoverboard will quickly return to the surface regardless of entry speed or height.

Holding the jump button while on the hoverboard allows you to crouch, facilitating more precise jump timing, particularly for challenging gaps. While this doesn't boost speed or jump height, it enhances accuracy.
