Hearthstone has announced exciting details about the upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, set to launch on January 21. This Mini-Set, the largest in Hearthstone's history, introduces 49 new cards. These include class cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique factionless neutral Legendary card.
During the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, Hearthstone first unveiled the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set. This expansion serves as a thrilling crossover between Hearthstone and Blizzard's beloved StarCraft franchise. Initial details were limited, but more comprehensive information has now been released following the new year.
Two months after the initial announcement, Hearthstone has fully revealed the contents of this micro expansion. Heroes of StarCraft will feature 49 brand-new cards, surpassing the typical Mini-Set by 11 cards. Each Hearthstone class will receive three new cards, while each of the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—will have five cards that can be utilized by specific classes, including one Legendary per faction. Additionally, the set includes a neutral Legendary card, Grunty. Hearthstone has already showcased several of these cards, with more reveals planned in the week leading up to the Mini-Set's release.
Hearthstone Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set Release Date
- January 21
The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize summoning numerous Zerglings and using the Hydralisk to maximize damage based on the size of the swarm. The Protoss cards, designed for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, focus on mana cheating—temporary and permanent—to enable the play of high-cost cards like the Carrier. Meanwhile, Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from new Starship mechanics introduced in Hearthstone's The Great Dark Beyond set, including new Starship Pieces, methods to launch multiple Starships, and a special Mech-themed Starship.
Despite its larger size, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price tag. While cards can be obtained from The Great Dark Beyond packs, players can purchase a complete playset of all Heroes of StarCraft cards for $20 or 2500 gold—an increase of $5 and 500 gold over standard Mini-Sets. An all-Golden version is available for $80 or 12,000 gold, up from the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. However, fans can opt to buy just the Protoss, Terran, or Zerg faction cards for $10 or 1200 gold.
To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone is hosting two special events: StarCast and HearthCraft. StarCast, scheduled for January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature renowned StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9 playing with the new cards. HearthCraft, set for January 24 at 9 AM PST, will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in competitive matches and mini-games. Viewers can earn two regular and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by watching these events on Twitch, making it a must-watch for fans eager to snag some free cards.
