Final Fantasy XIV to End Windows 10 Support
Square Enix has confirmed it will discontinue Windows 10 support for its MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV starting this October.
The publisher stated that support will officially end on October 14, 2025—aligning with Microsoft's own cutoff date for security updates and technical assistance.
"While FINAL FANTASY XIV may still be playable on Windows® 10 after support ends," the company explained, "we generally won't be able to offer help for issues caused by the operating system itself."
Square Enix noted that it might still address some Windows 10-related technical queries after the deadline, but assistance will be limited, evaluated individually, and not assured.
Furthermore, the Windows version of Final Fantasy XIV will see updates to its OS and CPU specifications on October 14. Alongside the move from Windows 10 64-bit to Windows 11 64-bit, CPU requirements will also increase.
For minimum system requirements, the recommended Intel Core i7-7700 (or equivalent) will be replaced by an Intel Core i5-8400 (or better). Recommended requirements, however, will remain at the Intel Core i7-9700 level.
Currently, Final Fantasy XIV is preparing for the release of patch 7.3, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, scheduled for early August. Coming after the Dawntrail expansion, this update will introduce a new set of Main Scenario Quests exploring the aftermath of the expansion and the mysterious events unfolding in Solution Nine.

In addition, the next chapter of Final Fantasy XIV's Final Fantasy XI crossover raid series—Echoes of Vana'diel—will launch with San d'Oria: The Second Walk. Veterans of Final Fantasy XI are likely to discover plenty of hidden references and nostalgic nods throughout the new raid encounters.
For those still using Windows 10, the transition appears unavoidable. With its end-of-support date approaching, now may be the right time to evaluate your upgrade path.
