In the latest installment of Nintendo's Creator's Voice series, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the Final Fantasy Remake series, announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be coming to the Switch 2. This news is particularly exciting for fans of the iconic RPG series.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an enhanced version of the 2020 PS4 release, Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is the first chapter in a trilogy that reimagines the beloved 1997 PS1 classic, Final Fantasy VII. Intergrade, available on PS5 and PC, features improved graphics and lighting over its PS4 counterpart, along with the "Intermission" DLC, which introduces the energetic ninja Yuffie to the city of Midgar.

Hamaguchi highlighted the capabilities of the Switch 2, stating, "With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs." This upgrade will allow players to experience the game in handheld mode, making it ideal for playing on the go. "Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work," Hamaguchi explained. The portability not only enhances the gaming experience but also facilitates sharing and discussing the game with others.

The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will also feature GameChat, a new addition that lets players communicate with friends and share their screens in real-time. "I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system," Hamaguchi said, expressing his enthusiasm for the strong partnership he hopes to build between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.

While only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for the Switch 2 so far, Hamaguchi hinted at future releases, saying, "I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2." This suggests that subsequent entries, such as Rebirth and the final chapter of the trilogy, might also make their way to Nintendo's new console.

This development marks a significant return for the Final Fantasy series to Nintendo platforms, recalling the franchise's origins on Nintendo consoles before transitioning to the PlayStation 1 with Final Fantasy VII in 1997. With the remake, fans will finally have the chance to experience this legendary title on Nintendo hardware once again.
