Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director
Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he confirmed.
Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, citing its numerous awards and widespread player acclaim. This success fuels the team's ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the unique challenges planned for the third game in the trilogy.
Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned Grand Theft Auto VI as a game that caught his attention this year. He expressed his admiration for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following the phenomenal success of GTA V.
Specifics regarding the third installment remain undisclosed. However, Hamaguchi offered reassurance, stating that development is progressing smoothly. This is notable given the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago. He emphasized that players can expect a truly unique experience.
Despite this, the underwhelming initial sales of Final Fantasy XVI in May 2024, which ultimately fell short of projections, were acknowledged. While exact figures remain unannounced, Square Enix clarified that they don't view the sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth as a complete failure, and that Final Fantasy XVI still has potential to meet its targets within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
