The World of Warcraft Feast of Winter Veil, a beloved in-game event mirroring real-world Christmas celebrations, returns with fresh rewards and activities. Each year brings new collectable items, gold, and other surprises.

A recently released lore video, a collaboration with PlatinumWoW, delves into the rich history of this holiday. The video explores the event's origins, weaving together Dwarven myths of Greatfather Winter (a Titan-forged giant), Tauren traditions of spiritual renewal, and the modern-day commercialization by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.

A History Steeped in Tradition and Hilarious Mishaps

The video wouldn't be complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after former Warcraft creative director Chris Metzen. This unfortunate reindeer has a history of kidnappings – by pirates and Dark Iron dwarves in Classic WoW, and even by the Grinch in the current iteration. The video concludes with a humorous thank you from Metzen, voiced in Thrall's iconic tone (a nod to Metzen's voice acting).

This collaboration marks another successful partnership between World of Warcraft and PlatinumWoW, who has previously created lore videos on various aspects of the game, including Nerubians, Vrykul, and the Scourge.
