Farewell, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp - Nintendo Shuts Down Mobile Hit

Nintendo's Popular Mobile Game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, is Closing Down

You read that correctly! Nintendo has announced the end of service (EOS) for its popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, leaving many players surprised. The game's online services will officially shut down on November 28th, 2024. This announcement comes just days before the game's seventh anniversary on November 21st.

The End of Online Play

After November 28th, 2024, at 7:00 AM PST, online features will cease. This means no more Leaf Tickets, no more Pocket Camp Club memberships (auto-renewals stop October 28th – no refunds after that date, but you'll receive a commemorative badge), and no more interacting with the online community. Your final chance to acquire Leaf Tickets is November 26th.

But There's a Silver Lining: An Offline Version!

While online services are ending, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of the game. While features like Market Boxes, gifts, and visiting friends' campsites will be absent, the core gameplay will remain. Your saved progress will carry over, allowing continued play without an internet connection. More details about this paid offline version are expected around October 2024.

A Trend of Mobile Game Shutdowns at Nintendo?

This closure follows a pattern of Nintendo phasing out mobile titles, including Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost. Even Mario Kart Tour is currently in maintenance mode. Therefore, the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, while unexpected for some, isn't entirely shocking.
