Fallout 76 Season 20: Embrace Your Inner Ghoul

Fallout 76 Season 20, dubbed "The Ghoul Within," is now live, offering players a thrilling new way to experience the radiation-soaked world of Appalachia. This update, announced by Bethesda on March 18, introduces a host of ghoul-related features, mechanics, and fresh cosmetics to enhance your C.A.M.P. and gameplay.

Unleash the Ghoul Within

With the latest update, you can now transform into a Ghoul through a process called Ghoulification, available via the "Leap of Faith" questline. This journey leads you to a new area in the Savage Divide, where you'll encounter unique characters crucial to your transformation. As a Ghoul, you'll unlock exclusive abilities like Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-exclusive Perks, or "Gherks," as Bethesda calls them.

The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger and thirst mechanics, providing boosts based on the Feral meter's level. However, if it drops to 0%, expect dramatic changes: "+150% Melee Damage, and lose -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy." On the other hand, the Glow ability lets you consume radiation, making you immune to diseases and mutations, and even causes you to glow. This not only boosts your max health and heals damage but also enhances your Gherks.

With 28 perks to choose from and two new legendary perks tailored for Ghouls, note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance will be unavailable, as Ghouls don't need these benefits.

A Day In The Life of A Ghoul

Navigating the wasteland as a Ghoul comes with perks but also challenges. Your new abilities and Gherks make exploring radiation-heavy areas easier, yet factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may react hostilely, potentially locking you out of certain quests. Fear not, as a new NPC named Jaye offers disguises that allow interaction with previously inaccessible content. If the Ghoul life isn't for you, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen, though it's a one-way trip. To become a Ghoul again, you'll need to purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
