Exclusive Interview: Nintendo's Doug Bowser in San Francisco
Nintendo enthusiasts on the West Coast have a new destination to explore as Nintendo opens its San Francisco store today, May 15, located in Union Square at 331 Powell Street. This marks the second official Nintendo store in the United States, following the success of the New York location. The New York store, originally known as the Nintendo World Store, underwent renovations and a rebranding to become Nintendo NY, reopening its doors in 2016.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the San Francisco store to see what Nintendo has in store for its fans. Additionally, IGN sat down with Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser to discuss the strategic decision behind opening the company's first West Coast store at this time.
During the interview, the conversation naturally turned to the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. IGN took the opportunity to ask Bowser about the availability of the Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch and beyond, as well as the controversial Game-Key Cards and other related topics.
