Engineers to Care for Grogu in New Mandalorian-Themed Millennium Falcon Update - Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details for the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to launch alongside the new movie. Engineers will take on the exciting role of caring for Grogu, while players can explore new planets like Coruscant, alongside familiar favorites such as Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor. This update, arriving on May 22, 2026, will diverge from the narrative of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, yet it will still feature both Din Djarin and Grogu in engaging new adventures. The storyline kicks off when Hondo Ohnaka uncovers a deal on Tatooine involving ex-Imperial officers and pirates, leading to a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will join forces with Mando and Grogu to pursue these fugitives and claim a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.

While full details are yet to be revealed, we know that Engineers will have a significantly larger role, taking care of Grogu, which promises to be a delightful experience. To delve deeper into what fans can expect, we spoke with Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama, who shared some exciting insights.

"Throughout the mission, we're going to give engineers the chance to communicate directly with Grogu," Kalama explained. "We believe it's going to be incredibly engaging. There might be moments when Mando needs to leave the Razor Crest, leaving Grogu to his own devices, and he could get a bit playful with the control panel. We're thrilled about including these fun, interactive vignettes where you'll be in communication with Grogu."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, Kalama added, "There will be a critical moment in your adventure where you're under time pressure and must make a rapid decision about which bounty to pursue. This decision will be the catalyst that determines which destinations you'll visit."
