Diablo 4 May Be Adding an Iconic World of Warcraft Weapon Soon
Diablo 4 Season 5 may bring the iconic World of Warcraft weapon, Frostmourne, into the game. Models resembling the Lich King's terrifying blade have been discovered on the Season 5 Public Test Realm (PTR), hinting at its potential inclusion in the upcoming August update.
The current Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR, running until July 2nd, is providing a sneak peek at the new season's content. This update is expected to introduce fresh challenges, items, and quests, bridging the gap until the "Vessel of Hatred" expansion launches on October 8th.
Data miners at Wowhead, while exploring the Season 5 PTR servers, unearthed two Frostmourne models. The exact implementation remains unknown – it could be a cosmetic item available in the shop, a Legendary weapon, or something entirely different. However, the discovery of two models suggests the possibility of both one-handed and two-handed versions.
Frostmourne's Arrival in Diablo 4
Frostmourne holds legendary status in Warcraft lore, infamous as the weapon that corrupted Arthas Menethil into the Lich King. Though destroyed and reforged in subsequent Warcraft expansions, it's curiously unavailable for direct use in World of Warcraft. Diablo 4 could become the first game where players can wield this iconic blade.
This isn't the first time Diablo 4 has featured Lich King-themed items. Last October, the Invincible mount cosmetic, complete with Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination replicas, was added to the in-game shop. However, the newly discovered models suggest a far more significant addition – the ability to actually use Frostmourne in combat.
Season 5's class weapon expansion further fuels speculation. Druids will gain access to polearms, one-handed swords, and daggers; Necromancers will wield maces and axes; and Sorcerers will unlock one-handed swords and maces. If Frostmourne is a one-handed sword, every class in Diablo 4 could potentially wield it.
