Destiny 2 Prophecy Year: Key Updates for Guardians

Destiny 2 Announces Year of Prophecy Content Roadmap
Bungie has unveiled its ambitious plans for Destiny 2's Year of Prophecy, featuring two major expansions and significant updates available to both paid and free players.
Four Major Content Releases Planned
The Year of Prophecy introduces four substantial content updates - two paid expansions and two major free updates. The first free update, Rite of the Nine, is already live, offering refreshed dungeon content with new twists on fan-favorite experiences.
On July 15, players can embark on The Edge of Fate expansion, beginning a multi-year narrative involving the enigmatic Nine. This paid content introduces new character Lodi and brings Warlock Vanguard Ikora into focus.
Core Game Improvements Arriving July 15
The July update also brings fundamental changes to Destiny 2's systems:
- Revamped armor and gear mechanics for enhanced buildcrafting
- New activity selection interface (The Portal)
- Fifty new modifiers for customized gameplay
- Solo Ops mode for single-player content
Pre-Order Rewards and Editions
Three different pre-order options are available:
- Base Edition - Includes The Edge of Fate campaign and exclusive digital items
- Year of Prophecy Edition - Adds the upcoming Renegades expansion
- Ultimate Edition - Features all content plus exclusive weapons and cosmetics
Future Update Schedule
Content roadmap for Year of Prophecy:
- September 9: Ash & Iron update
- December 2: Renegades expansion
- March 3: Shadow & Order update
The Renegades expansion draws inspiration from Star Wars, blending Destiny's signature gameplay with sci-fi elements.
This ambitious content plan comes after Bungie's workforce reductions in 2024, with the studio simultaneously developing its upcoming Marathon reboot.
