The original Destiny, though still accessible, largely ceded its prominence to Destiny 2 in 2017. While Bungie continues to integrate legacy content from the first game into its sequel – including popular raids and exotic weapons – this spontaneous update to the Tower remains a complete enigma.

The decorations bear a resemblance to past seasonal events in Destiny, such as The Dawning, with Ghost-shaped lights adorning the area. This suggests the possibility that a placeholder date for the removal of these assets was mistakenly set in the future, long after Bungie anticipated Destiny 1 would be offline.
