Angry Birds Movie Set for January 2027 Release
The Angry Birds are set to make a triumphant return to the silver screen, and fans around the world greeted the news with a collective, "Oh, that's cool." While the first mobile game-turned-movie may not have been on everyone's radar, it certainly left a positive impression on many viewers. So, it's no surprise that anticipation is building for the third installment in the series. However, eager fans will have to exercise some patience, as Angry Birds 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on January 29, 2027.
It's not unusual for animated films to take a considerable amount of time to produce. Fans of the Spiderverse series, for instance, have experienced years of anticipation, with the final chapter also slated for a 2027 release.
The decision to bring the irate avians back to the big screen may well have been influenced by Rovio's acquisition by Sega. The thriving Angry Birds community and Sega's own success with the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, which is expanding with titles like Sonic Rumble and its film-themed skins, likely played a role too.
It's particularly noteworthy that big-name actors such as Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride are set to reprise their roles. Many of these actors have found career-defining roles since their initial appearances in the series. Joining them are fresh faces like the surreal comedian Tim Robinson and the multitalented actress and star of Nope, Keke Palmer.
With the recent celebration of the 15th anniversary of Angry Birds, now might be the perfect time to delve into what the Creative Officer for the franchise, Ben Mattes, had to say about this milestone.
