Cyberpunk 2077’s Idris Elba Hopes For Cyberpunk Live-Action With Keanu Reeves

Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, envisions a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film alongside Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview, Elba expressed his excitement about the prospect, stating that a live-action adaptation featuring himself and Reeves would be incredible.

This isn't their first collaboration; both actors are featured in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Elba's enthusiasm for a Cyberpunk live-action project stems from the potential synergy between his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' iconic portrayal of Johnny Silverhand. He believes their on-screen chemistry would be electrifying.

This idea isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility. Variety reported in October 2023 that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project is underway, with CD Projekt Red partnering with Anonymous Content. While details are scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher live-action series suggests a Cyberpunk adaptation is highly plausible.

Beyond a potential live-action film, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also planned for 2025, and a new animated series is in development. The Cyberpunk franchise shows no signs of slowing down.
